Community guidelines

How we expect people to treat each other here.

5 sections
On this page

In short

  • Be respectful: disagree with ideas, not people.
  • Stay useful: say what you tried and what happened.
  • Never post secrets or other people's personal data.
  • Report anything that should not be here; people review every report.

These guidelines apply to any discussion hosted on Gixian. They keep it a place where people can ask anything and get a useful answer.

The essentials

  • Be respectful

Disagree with ideas, not people. No harassment, hate or personal attacks.

  • Stay useful

Keep to the topic, share what you tried, and say what you expected to happen.

  • Protect privacy

Never post other people’s personal data, or passwords, keys, tokens and other secrets. Pasted one by mistake? Revoke it straight away.

  • Keep it legal and safe

Nothing illegal, and no instructions meant to cause harm or to attack systems you do not own.

  • Share what is yours to share

Only post what you have the right to share, and credit your sources.

  • No spam

No advertising, self-promotion or repeated posts.

Asking a good question

  • Search first: your question may already have an answer.
  • Use a title that describes the problem, not just the tool.
  • Say what you are trying to do, what you tried, and what happened instead – the exact error message helps most.
  • Include the smallest piece of code, query or configuration that shows the problem, with passwords and keys removed.
  • Mention the versions you use, and what you have ruled out.

Answering well

  • Answer the question that was asked, and explain why, not only what.
  • If you are not sure, say so; a careful “I think” beats a confident guess.
  • Vote for answers that helped you, and if the question is yours, accept the one that solved it.

Reports and moderation

Content that breaks these guidelines may be removed, and repeated or serious breaches can lead to an account being restricted. If you see something that should not be here, use the Report link under a post, the Report content form, or write to info@gixian.com. Held and reported posts are reviewed by people.

If you disagree with a decision

When a decision seems wrong, reply to the message you received or write to info@gixian.com and ask for it to be looked at again.

What exactly is collected, and why

Gixian’s own counts

Collects
The pages you open and how long you stay, how far you scroll, where you came from, your device type, browser, screen size, language and time zone. Your IP address is turned into a code that changes every day; it is never stored as it is.
Why
To see how long lessons are read and where readers leave. Not shared with anyone.
Stored
A random visitor ID, a visit ID and the time of your last page view in your browser’s storage (gx_vid, gx_sid, gx_last). No name or email is attached.
