Editorial standards

What you can expect from every piece we publish.

6 sections
On this page

In short

  • Every piece is reviewed and approved by an editor before it is published.
  • Every piece shows when it was published and when it was last updated.
  • When something is wrong we fix it, and say what changed if the error was significant.
  • Advertising is kept separate from the content and never changes what we write.
  • Discussions are written by members, under the Community guidelines.

These are the commitments we hold ourselves to at Gixian. They apply to every tutorial, guide and explainer on the site.

Review before publication

Every piece is reviewed and approved by an editor before it is published. Nothing appears on the site without that approval.

Dates and authorship

Every piece shows when it was first published and, if it changed, when it was last updated, so you can judge whether it still matches the version of the tool you use.

Where a named author is shown, that person is the author of the piece.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it, update the date shown on the page and, for a significant error, say what changed.

To tell us about a mistake, send us:

  1. the address of the page;
  2. what is wrong, quoting the sentence, step or code;
  3. what you expected, or where the correct information is.

The Contact page has a ready-made message for this.

Independence

Advertising, if it is shown, is always kept separate from our content and never changes what we write.

Discussions

Posts in the community are written by its members. They are not editorial pieces, and the Community guidelines apply to them.

What exactly is collected, and why

Gixian’s own counts

Collects
The pages you open and how long you stay, how far you scroll, where you came from, your device type, browser, screen size, language and time zone. Your IP address is turned into a code that changes every day; it is never stored as it is.
Why
To see how long lessons are read and where readers leave. Not shared with anyone.
Stored
A random visitor ID, a visit ID and the time of your last page view in your browser’s storage (gx_vid, gx_sid, gx_last). No name or email is attached.
